The Harpenden team were a well organised and powerful team and played a very abrasive style of play that tested the defence. An early injury to Billy meant we were down to no subs within the first ten minutes. The Harpenden defence held strong and despite tough tackling they could not stop an early try scored by Luke and converted by Cody. A period of pressure followed by a good use of the wing where Edwin found himself in open space led to us a going into the break with a 14-0 lead.
The second half started the same way as the first; Royston ran quick ball which was met with tough tackles from Harpenden. A period of pressure led to two Harpenden tries but a try from Rory settled our nerves and was also converted by Cody who kicked well throughout the game.
A serious injury to Matthew meant we saw out the last 15 minutes of the game with 14 against 15 players but the boys held on for a well earned win.
We wish Matthew all the best with his recovery and look forward to seeing him playing again soon.
