Royston 2nd XV looked to end their spell of bad form in an away fixture against Chesham 2’s. The game started with a spritely Royston side battering the Chesham defence. Perseverance by the Crows forced a gap in the Chesham defence that enabled Royston to core their try. The rest of the first half continued in a similar vein, with Royston repeatedly driving at the Chesham line and putting together plays that resulted in a try. The Crows had a 21-point lead at half time, with no response from the home side.
The second half saw Royston’s pace of attack slow, with Chesham hoping to put points on the board for themselves, however the Crows proved tenacious in defence and repeatedly beat back the homes sides surges forward. Chesham’s continuous aggression, to no avail, saw the strength sapped from their side and Tom Rayman capitalised, bursting through their line and scoring the Crow’s only try of the second half, displaying an incredible turn of pace. The match ended with a huge victory for Royston, winning 28-0 against a side two places about them in the table.
