Royston Second XV hosted Chesham 2’s at the Heath in a Merit table clash. The game was fairly scrappy from the start with both sides picking up points throughout the first half. Chesham were first to score, using their full back to run around the Royston defence and scoring their first try. Royston came back when they were awarded a penalty that was kicked successfully by Mike Robertson. Chesham quickly scored again from the restart when Royston failed to make key tackles, allowing the visitors to once again use their legs. Royston responded well as Tristan Tegg found space and dived over the line. Chesham came back with two more tries giving them a health lead over Royston, Tristan managed to slot a drop goal. The second half was all about the Crow’s, with Chesham’s only points coming from a penalty early in the half. Royston picked up two tries as a rolling mall pushed Turks across the line. Josh Conley also succeeded in adding to the total using his strength to punch a hole in the Chesham defence. Royston continued to attack the Chesham line, eager for victory, however time ran out giving Chesham the victory 21-26.
