Despite the Crow’s fielding a confident side, following a win the previous week, Hendon too arrived bristling with confidence. Although scrum’s were uncontested from the start, this was just one of the factors to go against Royston and an initial flurry of attacks resulting in two early tries saw Hendon take the lead, using their pacey centres to break through gaps in the Royston defence. The first half saw Hendon making the most of the luck thrown their way, gaining a decisive advantage against which Royston could only grasp one try.
The second half swung a little more in Royston’s favour, as the Crows found cohesion the pace in their backs saw the picking up tries. Hendon also showed great flair, using their talented centres to punch holes in the Royston defence. Both sides battled on to the final whistle but it was Hendon who came out on top, winning 67-26.
