Crows downed by dominant Harrow

Royston welcomed Harrow to the Heath buoyed by recent results and full of confidence as they try to finish off the season in style.

Harrow started strongly, with a converted intercept try giving them a 7-0 lead within five minutes. Royston ill-discipline was punished shortly after with a penalty kick as Harrow continued to exert their influence on proceedings. This sparked Royston into life as they started to feel their way into the game, with captain Ben Ritsema crossing for his first try since returning from injury, converted by Dacey to reduce the score to 10-7 after 25 minutes. Harrow had the last effort of the first half, crossing for an unconverted try for a 15-7 lead.

Harrow scored almost immediately in the second half to build a commanding 20-7 lead, but Royston hit back quickly through Max Finney, conversion missed by Dacey but the Crows back in the game. A second Harrow penalty midway through the half extended their lead to 11 points, and as much as Royston toiled and tried to force their way back into the game, the opposition stood firm. As Royston pushed for the small comfort of a losing bonus point, the ball was turned over in the Harrow 22 and they managed to go the length of the field for a converted try that made the final score a flattering 30-12. A tough day at the office for the Crows against a physical Harrow team, but two games left to put things right before the Crows take a well earned break until September.
