Ely and Royston met in the Cambs Cup fixture on a windy Heath. Ely only had 9 players to Royston 18 however late cry offs reduced both sides by two players. Royston lent Ely four players Harrison, Adam, Jack Hallam and Euan Denchfield to bring their number to 11. Royston had 12 players so we had one sub. Royston chose to play with the wind in the first half and quickly got off to a flying start. The 5 forwards worked well together dominating the breakdown an linked well with the backs scoring 6 unanswered tries. At half time Joshua Mutimbanyoka swapped with Euan Denchfield. Royston then scored 2 tries into the wind at the beginning of the second half. Ely certainly did not give in and battled to the end scoring 2 well deserved tries of their own. Sadly an injury to the Ely fly half saw the need to utilise Dagan From the bench.
Man of the match went to Adam Mulcock who impressed at the breakdowns for Ely. Harrison was also troublesome at the breakdowns. Joshua, Euan and Jack were certainly put to the test in defence making their tac
