Hertfordshire Shield Under 15's Final

Harry Bayford scored the first try after a quick tap penalty
and break from skipper Jacob Boyce. Ben Ireland converted. OA's replied
with a converted try. Strong runs from props James Reeder, Cameron
Bonfield and Steve Graham resulted in Bayford's second try, Ireland converted. OA's
again replied with a try. James' Shannon, Kirby and Meecham and Dan
Jones pushed Royston forward. At half-time the score was 14 - 12 to
Royston. OA's started the second half strongly and led 19 - 14.
Royston's game changed after a try saving Max Oliver tackle, Harry
Bayford completed his hat trick of tries and Chris Chivanganye touched
down after a solo run. Outstanding hooking from Callum Waring allowed
tough tackling centres Rhys Redrup and Max Ayliffe to score tries for
Royston. Ben Ireland not only converted both tries but kicked
intelligently throughout. Replacements Tyler Boyne, Dominic Dunklin,
Luke Duncan and Oscar Ayliffe all contributed greatly to a spirited
finish by Royston. This was a proud day for Royston Rugby as this was
their first county rugby trophy at Under 15 level.
Both Coaches, David Ayliffe and Godfrey Everett, could not be prouder of their charges. It is very humbling to be on this journey with these young Men, says David. We truely have Champion Team! In the past two seasons, the boys have been League Winners of their Division, Promoted last year and this, and are now County Shield winners for Hertfordshire.
