Forward of the match Steve Graham scored two tries in the first ten minutes, both after good work from his fellow forwards. Ben Ireland kicking one conversion. The stags came back with a try of their own shortly after. Half-time scored 12 - 5 to Royston. Both coaches made positional and personnel changes in the second half. Skipper No 8 Jacob Boyce scored the try of the game with a lung-busting run from his own half to increase Royston's lead. The stags replied with two tries. It was left to full back Chris Chivanganye to have the final say with two tries of his own after strong runs. Ben Ireland added one conversion to complete the scoring. Max Ayliffe was Back of the match in a pleasing performance for coach Dave Ayliffe who felt Royston's support play was the deciding factor in the victory.
