Thankfully the rain stayed away

18 of our squad took part in the Cambridge Festival held at Shelford. The team were in Pool A with Cambridge, Peterborough, Ely and Wisbech. Our first game was against Ely which was a very close fought game and ended in a draw at 2 tries each. We did have our opportunities during the game. Our second game was against Peterborough A. At half time it was all square however the second half we let Peterborough get on top of our defence and they scored 3 tries.

Next game up was against one of the best A sides in the county (they made the final) in Cambridge who played open flowing rugby. The players are commended on their spirit and never die attitude and continued to work hard. Unfortunately Cambridge were better than us. The 4th game was against Wisbech - we really did have opportunities in this game but this was probably our weakest game in defence resulting in a very close loss.

Our final game was against Huntingdon B. It was great to see that the team played with the energy and the spirit that did them so well in the first 3 games. It was a very close game but today we came out on the wrong side of the result.

We have always said as coaches that the results are not the most important aspect to the game. The continued progress, development and learning that the players get from these matches is very very valuable. Over the day we saw lots of good work from the players and it is great to see how they have developed over the season. Thanks to all for the respect they showed to opposition, to the referees and to each other - that is very commendable.
