Good start to the season

After 4 weeks of training the u12's got to measure themselves against some of Cambridgeshire's best teams. It was also good to see where we are as squad at this time. We had a squad of 19 available for the day so we rotated players so everyone got some game time. Well done to Leo for experiencing his first taste of match time.

Overall the day was successful in that we tried players in different roles so as to provide everyone with opportunity to experience something new. We played 3 matches, Peterborough, Saffron Walden and Huntingdon.

In the first match we allowed the opposition to impose themselves on us which resulted in the team being on the defensive more than on attack. Credit goes to the players as they defended with everything they had despite coming out behind.

In the second match the team we more aggressive in their approach to the ruck which meant they were able to secure more ball and using pace started to exert pressure on the opposition. The team scored some lovely tries after some very good teamwork to create quick ball resulting in a win for the squad.

The third is was as tough and physical as the first although in this one the players were able to come from behind to draw with very little time left on the clock.

There is lots to build on as a team and we will continue to build on this. On the positive the players commitment and effort was total and they held there heads up high, continuing to work hard for each other right to the end.
