Royston storm to victory

Skipper/hooker Jacob Boyce led Royston Under 13 to victory against their Saffron Walden counterparts at Walden on Sunday. the score 45 -5. The strength of locks Dan Jones , George Howard and replacement Tyler Boyne proved vital in an excellent team performance. Props James Reeder and Cameron Bonfield ably supported by James Meecham paved the way for James Shannon to grab a hat-trick of tries. Rhys Deer claimed two tries whilst the hard working Rhys Redrup and George Howard also bagged a try each. slick handling and strong tackling by Charlie Capewell, Max Ayliffe, John Busher and Joseph Gilhooly restricted Walden to 1 try. Dominic Dunklin conducted the team from scrum-half while Eddy Twyman was a reassuring figure at full back. Ben Ireland kicked five conversions to keep the score ticking along nicely. Coach Aussie Ayliffe heaped praise on all 17 squad members saying they were all Men of the Match. Next Saturday the Under 13's play Chelmsford in a curtain raiser for Royston's 1st XV semi final at the Heath
