Royston 2nd XV, playing at home, came up against a tough challenge as the battled top-of-the-table Amersham and Chiltern 3’s. Royston struggled to get focussed at the start of the game as Amersham scored two quick tries to give them the lead. Royston found their feet and began to make their own attacks, with Will Law, Ryan Hill and Tristan Tegg scoring in the first half. Amersham continued to score tries, keeping them ahead of the Crows. The second half saw more tries as both sides made punishing attacks using quick hands to allow the backs to gain ground. Tom Dummett and Mike Robertson both crossed the line in the second half with the final try being converted by Robertson, however it proved not to be enough. The final whistle saw Amersham and Chiltern winning the game 43-27. The Crows had shown good spirit and had made a number promising attacks but were let down in the final phases of play. Next Royston 2’s face Cuffley 2nd XV where the weeks training will once again be put to the test.
