Under 8s enjoy fun day in London

Royston RFC Under 8s travelled to the home of champions Saracens to take part in the 2016 Oakman Cup. The team played three games, starting with a tough game against Tring Rugby.

Tring brought a very strong team to the event and the young crows found the first game tough as we lost possession due to players going into touch and through the pressure the opposition were putting us under. The star of this game was Max who scored an excellent try and Laurence who was a demon Tagger! Special mention to Ben who was making his match debut for Royston - what a game to start in!

The second game was against another Hertfordshire team, one we had not played before, St Albans RFC. After their warm up against Tring the Crows were now in full flow. This was coach Niall's favourite game of the day. Oliver Tallis was in imperious form, cutting back inside on two occasions to score tries. Sophie made some energetic runs and Jessica was a tagging machine! Rudy added the best try of the day with an amazing 3/4 of the field run to rapturous cheers from the parents. Laurence also got on the score sheet as did Daniel.

The third and final game of the day saw an even contest against Leamington RFC. Shania was on tremendous form in this game, leading our defensive line each play. She was also making her Match debut for Royston but there was no sign of a lack of experience! Tries for Oliver, Max, Laurence and Daniel followed.
