1's fail to topple table toppers

The Crows knew they faced a tough challenge when they hosted league leaders Old Streetonians at The Heath. Streetonians came out aggressively and the early pressure put them across Royston’s line, only for the ball to be held up by The Crows pack. The ensuing scrum allowed Old Street to work around the corner and score under the posts, leaving an easy conversion. Following the restart, Streetonians continued to apply pressure being awarded a penalty in Royston’s 22, allowing them to add another three points to the board. Royston’s woes continued when a dropped high ball gave Old Streetonians possession on the half way line. A well-placed grubber kick gave the visitors winger the gap he needed to score. From this point, seemed to find a bit of stability, putting together and offensive of their own. Old Streetonians defended well, but gave away a penalty, allowing Will Dacey to kick Royston’s first points of the game.
The second half of the match saw both sides looking for gaps with no real gain, however it was Old Streetonians who once again came out of top, earning a penalty in the corner that, after several phases, resulted in a try and conversion for the visitors. Following a period of sustained pressure by Royston, with strong carries from the forwards, Josh Brock shepherded the ball under the posts for Dacey to convert. It was the last play in the game that saw Old Streetonians score once more, leaving the final score at Royston 10 – 29 Old Streetonians.
