Royston Rugby Club 1st XV travelled to Hendon for the game that marked the half way point in their league campaign. The Crows looked to maintain their strong position in Herts/Middlesex 1 and ensure that that they continue to threaten the top sides. Royston once again looked strong early in the game, but small errors allowed Hendon to put points on the board. As Royston’s attacks started to come together, tries were scored, but the home side clawed back trying to keep up with their opponents score. Royston were not to be deterred and with a combination of powerful drives from the forwards and expansive play from the backs, finally clinched victory. With tries from Will Cottrell, John Brain, Joel Simpson and Jacob Boyce, plus two penalties and two conversions kicked by Will Dacey, Royston came away with a bonus point victory of 33 – 13. Next week the 1’s continue their Junior Vase campaign against the Suffolk side of Beccles.
