Crows Triumph over UCS Old Boys

Royston 1st team hoped to continue their climb up the Herts/Middlesex 1 League when they faced UCS Old Boys at the Heath. Straight from the kick-off Royston retained the ball, attacking UCS ferociously. After multiple phases Damo Fouracres crashed over the line from 2 yards, the try being converted by Will Dacey. The Crows continued their relentless advance as John Brain burst through a gap, offloading to Nick Alford, who in turn unleashed Ben Ritsema to score the second try of the game, once again converted by Dacey. Towards the end of the first half, Royston once again went on the offensive, allowing Jacob Boyce to bounce off his opposing man, scoring a try in the corner. Dacey’s Kicking proved to be on point as he slotted a tough conversion from near the touch line. Royston did not sit on their heels and continually punished the UCS Old Boys errors, with tries being scored frequently as the Crow’s confidence increased. Once again, the youngsters put in a fantastic performance, showing their places were more than justified. With the final whistle saw Royston victorious, scoring 66 points to UCS’s 5. Jacob Boyce picked up three tries, Ben Ritsema and Joe Butcher scoring a pair, while Will Dacey, Sam Morris, Nick Alford and Damo Fouracres each scored one apiece. A great victory for the Crows, but next week they face Hendon away, another victory required to keep Royston in sight of the top of the league.
