Match played in 3 thirds as a training fixture for both teams, but a significant wind tested both teams exiting into it.
Royston show great spirit an endeavour against a well drilled Hitchin team. Playing into a strong wind a stout defence in the first segment of the game meant Royston were unable to clear their line effectively and Hitchin were able to capitalise on the superior territory. Royston were able to put together some good phases of play but when turned over Hitchin used the prevailing wind to send Royston back. Royston were able to cross the line on 4 occasions so it wasn't all one way, but Hitchin were more clinical in finishing and put up some sturdy defence. Royston were missing 6 players so it was a valiant effort by all who played and is a great base to work from ready for our next league outing in two weeks time.
