A less daunting way of broadening horizons

Royston Rugby Club is offering women “a less daunting way of broadening their horizons” by encouraging women to step out of their comfort zone with a fun introduction to rugby.
The Warrior Camp at the club, which meets at The Heath Sports Centre, consists of paired activities that are used to teach participants the skills and techniques of rugby. The activities require players to work together to all learn, have fun and succeed.
Following the camp, Royston Rugby club will see 200 women and girls descend on Royston Heath to play rugby. Mott MacDonald have kindly sponsored this exciting event to promote girls and women’s rugby whilst raising money for Wooden Spoon, in particular fellow rugby player and England legend Tamara Taylor. Tamara is taking on an epic challenge for Wooden Spoon, playing the biggest ever game of rugby at Everest base camp.
The day will see England legends, Tamara Taylor, Hannah Gallagher, Harriet Millar-Mills and Zira Handley lead the Inner Warriors and then inspire the players of the future as the referees for the games.
The inner warrior event starts at 12pm (20th Jan), with the Mott MacDonald Girls and Women’s Rugby Festival following on from 1pm. Come down to Royston Heath for a great afternoon, all support welcome. BBQ from 12pm, cake stall, raffle and fun games throughout the afternoon.
